St. Francis North Hospital Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) is located in the Behavioral Center of St. Francis North Hospital, which is managed by St. Patrick’s Behavioral Health Hospital. BHU is designed to care for an adult population, ages 22-64 requiring inpatient hospitalization.
Life often presents stressors and challenges that can compound one’s ability to cope, and these events can trigger symptoms of existing medical conditions such as depression and anxiety. Behavioral health care is often the critical turning point to stabilize and manage times of crisis.
Inpatient care is provided in a secured, safe environment which enhances desired treatment clinical outcomes.
Admission begins with a complete assessment and evaluation to identify issues as well as goals. A team of doctors, nurses, social workers and mental health technicians develop a tailored treatment plan that addresses both emotional and medical needs of each individual. Treatment includes multiple modes of therapy ranging from medication management to activity therapy and both group and individual psychotherapy. Treatment teams meet on a regular basis to assess patient progress and continuum of care plans. The patient, families and caregivers are invited to attend treatment team meetings as participants in the ongoing treatment plan.
