There are many myths and stereotypes about aging that so often put negative connotations on getting older. While it is true our physical and mental processes do begin to slow to some degree in the aging process, these changes are very often overstated. Behavioral health illnesses like dementia (Alzheimer’s Disease), depression and anxiety do not always accompany aging, however, there are many factors of later life that do put seniors at greater risk. When these illnesses do occur it can interfere greatly with one’s ability to function normally.
St. Patrick's Behavioral Health Hospital was designed to meet the challenges that aging brings to many of us, including the most difficult - physical illnesses that affect the brain and masquerades as emotional changes of aging. Targeting the ages of 65 and older, the Geriatric Hospital is here to meet the needs of senior adults in both symptom management and treatment to promote optimal improvement. Untreated these illnesses persist causing further disability for the senior and complicated distress for patient and caregivers alike.
Inpatient care is provided in a secured safe environment, which enhances desired clinical outcomes.
